WAUKESHA -- Visitation will be tonight, March 7, for Joseph V. Vasilauskas of Waukesha who died on Sunday, March 5, 1995, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was born at Homestead, Pa., on Sept. 2, 1917, and moved to Wisconsin as an adult.
For the past 25 years, he was a resident of Waukesha, and was a member of Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in Rapid City, S.D.
He was a 50 year member of the Andrew Van Ells-Robert L. Schanen Post 82 of the American Legion in Port Washington. He retired in 1978 as a machinist with the Orion Corp. in Grafton, manufacturer of bearings.
Over the years, he was a Milwaukee Blood Center donor and was honored for having donated 184 units of blood to the ill and injured.
Since his retirement, he was involved in the Senior Olympics, having participated in the swimming events in 1984, he placed first in the event.
His loving wife, Dolores (nee Lottermoser), survives him as well as children. He will be missed by his 11 grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Further surviving are his sister, other relatives and friends.
