HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Edwin "Scotchy" Benet, 82, of Hendersonville, a native and longtime resident of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday at Tennessee Christian Medical Center, Madison, Tenn.
Mr. Benet was an Air Force veteran who retired as a senior master sergeant. He was lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 1557 and the American Legion Post 17, both of New Smyrna Beach. Mr. Benet was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his cat, "Little Sarge."
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Davis, Hendersonville; a stepson, Rick Gerontis, Seattle; a stepdaughter, Lisa Kryza, Tacoma, Wash.; and his ex-wife Martha Benet, Hendersonville, who provided for his care. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
