Jesse J. Raser, 76, Route 6, Grant Creek Road, died Sunday in a local hospital.

He was born Sept. 21, 1901, in Chapman, Neb., where he attended school and farmed for many years. He moved to Denver in 1949 and owned a restaurant there for seven years.

He married Gladys Reeder in Chapman in 1923. She died in February 1969.

In 1957, Mr. Raser moved to Missoula, where he was employed as a yard foreman for Missoula Livestock Auction Company. He retired in 1966 but continued to be active on sale days. He and his brother, Howard, Missoula, also raised Appaloosa horses.

He married Julia Backus in December 1969.

Mr. Raser was a charter member and on the board of directors of the Western Montana Appaloosa Club. He also was a member of the Five Valleys Appaloosa Club and Back Country Horseman Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lyle, Fort Collins, Colo., and Vic, Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Verla Nabity and Donna Brown, both of Denver; two step-daughters, Leota Sorenson, Corvallis, and Ardy Jackson, Stevensville; his brother and two sisters, Blanche Hudnall, Chapman Neb., and LuEmma Wigert, Freemont, Neb.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Rose Chapel of Squire-Simmons-Carr Funeral Home with the Rev. Beryl Burr officiating. Burial will be in Missoula Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bob Patton, Leonard Lytle, Art Funk, Bud Lake, Don Grazier and Doug Roark. Honorary pallbearers will include John Roberts, Ralph Hilstrum, Emmett Glore, Bill Teague, Walt Peschel, Pete Schaan and Loy Wright.

Memorials may be made to Boystown, Nebraska.
