OBIT - Mr. Truman Bell, son of the late Joe Lee Bell and Mrs. Pearl Milby Bell, was born September 16, 1920 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in the Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Facility in Lebanon, Kentucky. He was 81 years, nine months and three days of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was currently serving as a deacon and was a former Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. He was a retired car salesman with the Goff Motor Company. He was also a member of the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704 where he has served for over 50 years.
He is also a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army.
Mr. Bell united in marriage to Miss Virginia Odell Bell on April 19, 1941 who survives. To this union were born two children: William Lee Bell of Summersville and Rebeca Jane (Bell) Milby, who preceded him in death on March 28,1977.
He is also survived by a daughter-in-law Amy Bell of Summersville; a grandson: William Levi Bell of Summersville; one brother: James Frank Bell of Lebanon; one sister: Naomi Nalley of Loretta. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers: Mary Lou Edelen, Mabel Catherine Bell, Oval Bell and Cleaver Bell.
Funeral services were conducted in the Brush Creek Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 with burial in the Wilson Cemetery. Rev. Ancil Durrett and Rev. Leo Curry officiated. A Masonic service was held in the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home at 7 p.m., Friday, June 21.
Pallbearers were Randal Joe Milby, Boyce P Milby, Joe Berry, Pete Vaughn, James Post, and Jimmy Nalley.
Honorary pallbearers were William H Brewer, Alvin Estes, Howard Curry, Bobby Rattliff, Brooks Milby and J. D. Pruitt.
