Virgil Allen "Mack" McPherson, 77, died Tuesday, September 9, 1997, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mack was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of South Elm Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Delsie Pilkenton McPherson; by his daughters, Judy Wilson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Genny Prentice of Fayetteville, Kimberly Hanner of Greensboro; and by his sons, Bob McPherson of Liberty, Richard McPherson of Lakeland, Fla., Ken McPherson of Guilford County, and by Bill Pardue of Julian. Mack is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Rich of Greensboro, Lillie Stallings of Gibsonville, and Leona Allred of Burlington. He has 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Allen McPherson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel.
