Edna I. Thornblade, 98, of Southwest Greensburg, died at Ridgeview Residential Care Home, Youngwood. She was a daughter of Edward and Johanna Thornblade. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School, Class of 1924. She was also a 1932 graduate of the Augustana School of Nursing, Chicago, Ill.

During World War II, she served as an Army nurse in Karachi, India. On her return to Greensburg, she worked on the nursing staff at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, primarily in pediatrics and recovery.

She was a life member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and she had a deep devotion for her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl E. Thornblade; and a son-in-law, George Hurney. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Louise Hurney of Palatine, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Christine Hurney of Minneapolis, Minn., and Brian Hurney of Redondo Beach, Calif. Also surviving are four sisters, Julia and Dorothy Thornblade of Southwest Greensburg, Ruth Brigaman of Youngwood and Mildred Wolfe of Indiana, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Thornblade of Scottdale.

Friends were received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, the day before the funeral. The funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with her pastor, Hans O. Andrae officiating.
