Lucille C. Shelton was born September 17, 1955 in Tillar, Arkansas, to E.C. and Evora Canada. She was seventh of ten children.

She accepted Christ at New Light Missionary Baptist Church while she was still very young. After moving to Pine Bluff, she united with First Assembly of God until her death. She was a faithful member. She embraced life and was comforted by what she received from the word of God.

She was educated in the Tillar Public School system. After graduating from Tillar High School in 1974, she entered the University of Arkansas of Pine Bluff and received her Bachelor's Degree in Science. She also received her Master of Secondary School Leadership in 1999. Her teaching career included several schools, such as Clarendon Public School, Wilmot Public School, Dumas Jr. High School, Pine Bluff School District and she retired after one year in the Watson Chapel School District. She returned back to the Pine Bluff School District the next year and remained there until her final retirement. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, and the National Education Association. She was also a member of the Alpha Angels Society while in college.

When the Lord called her on March 30, 2011, she did what any good saint would do, obeyed and answered His call. Her leaving created an empty void in her family, church, and school. She will truly be missed.

Her memory will be cherished by a loving, devoted, and dear husband, George Henry (Sheffield); her son, Simmbriel (Latoyal); grandchildren, Simmiah, and Simmbriel, Jr.; a stepson, Justin Shelton; and her special God-daughter, Tonya Burks. She also leaves her parents, E.C. and Evora Canada; three sisters, Warna Turner, Bobbie Coleman, and Denise (Anthony) Johnson; and three brothers, Lee Edward, Tyree, and Ronnie.

She also leaves nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and great nieces. Lucille also touched the lives of many special loved ones that she will never forget and loved them as her own, such as Nakisha Taylor, Dexter Johnson, and Eric Lamb and his family. She had four true and special friends, Kaye W. Dunkley and family, Octavia Benjamin, Helen Lee, and Sandy Blalock. Last, but not least, my husband's extended family, friends, and coworkers during my life on this earth.

Her services will be Monday, April 4, 2011 at First Assembly of God Church by Pastor Gary Bell at 11:00a. Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6:00p at Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
