Edwina was born in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky on 31 July, 1903. Her birth record lists her as unnamed daughter of Flora Cook. She was raised by her family and at age 16 moved to Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana to live with Stanley and Bessie Noel. She married Benjamin Everett McFarland on 29 December,1926 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana. They raised five children: Everett "Mac", Betty Lou, James Madison, Norman Franklin and John Carroll McFarland. Upon Everett's retirement from U.S. Royal in June of 1963, they moved with John, to Jamestown, Ky. Here they enjoyed family and friends until Everett's death in 1974. Edwina then lived with family in North Carolina, Indiana and Kentucky until her death at the Claiborne Nursing Home, Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee, from old age and heart issues. She is buried between her husband, and son James Madison, who died in 1938.
