She was a retired sales clerk having worked on Main Street in Russell Springs starting with Mr. J.W. Kimble in 1937 and ending with Young's Department Store in 1987.
She was born November 10, 1909 to Bob Ham and Effie Blankenship Ham at Jackman Bottom near Creelsboro. She attended grade school at Creelsboro and was graduated from Russell Springs High School, Class of 1931.
Elizabeth professed faith in Christ at an early age at Creelsboro Christian Church and in 1927 transferred her membership to the Russell Springs Christian Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was married to Chester Porter for 67 years. He preceded her in death in 1998. Elizabeth is survived by one son, Bob Porter, daughter-in-law, Dorothy, of Russell Springs; granddaughter, Stephanie; and two great-granddaughters, Maya and Evan Porter, of Ft. Mitchell; one sister, Kate Holt, of Jamestown and one brother, Pete Ham, Portland, TN; two sisters, Nora Aaron and Minnie Ham and one brother, George Ham, preceded her in death.
Services were held Saturday, April 19, at Russell Springs Christian Church. The services were conducted by Bro. Carroll Egnew with arrangements by H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, Jamestown.
