2LT Emerson Morris USAAF died in the line of duty piloting UC-78B #43-32559 when his aircraft crashed five miles from
Mico, Texas, in Medina County, while on an instrument-training flight out of the Marfa Army Airfield. Aviation Cadet James C. Lamb, Jr. also perished in the accident.

The two aviators were fatally injured when their Cessna aircraft struck rising terrain while flying towards Kelly Field, San Antonio.

Emerson was the son of Alvin L. and Irene (Hawkins) Morris.
