The son of Alfred G and Mary Mowbray

This is the information I have from the sesquicentennial project I did on St. Paul's
Episcopal Church window memorials a few years ago--glean from it what you wish, and
discard the rest:
EDWIN JENNINGS MOWBRAY (1853-1870) was born in Isle of Wight off the coast of England and came to the US with his parents, Alfred and Mary and three brothers in 1856.
According to his obituary, Edwin was "amiable and sweet" and suffered only a few days illness of a "cerebral affliction." The Mowbrays were parishioners of Trinity
Church, Stockton but apparently called upon Rev. Theodore M. Riley, rector of St. Paul's to officiate at the funeral. Edwin is buried in the churchyard at Trinity
Church.
A family of grist millers, they eventually settled in Stockton, coming by way of Ohio, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. In Stockton, Alfred Mowbray set up the first
gradual-reduction mill ever to operate in America. This process was eventually patented by Washburn Mills in Minneapolis, the makers of Gold Medal Flour, and later
became General Mills. Edwin's brother, A.G. Mowbray used the same method when he established Winona Milling Company.
