Agnes Jorstad, 100, of Red Lake Falls, MN, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Wesley Langaas officiating. Casket bearers included Don Jorde, Phil Torgerson, Tom Wang, Ron Bjerknes, Tim Mickelson and Don Jorstad. Interment was held at Telemarken Cemetery, Kratka Township, Pennington County, MN.
Agnes Jorstad was born December 31, 1910 in Adgar Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Hans and Ingborg (Brekke) Jorstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Church in the German Language. She gew up and attended country school in Adgar Township.
She was employed on a farm in Brooten for many years. She worked on a farm at Fisher, and a family farm in Kratka Township as a housekeeper. In 1967, she moved into Thief River Falls and became a caretaker for her mother and brother for many years. She lived in her home until the age of 91, when she moved in Valley Nursing Home. She has lived in Hillcrest Senior Livng in Red Lake Falls the past four years.
Agnes was a member of Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls and a member of the women's groups. She enjoyed working with thread, crocheting and knitting.
Agnes is survived by one nephew, Don Jorstad, Red Lake Falls; two neices, JoAnn Pegley, California and Beverly Nebel, Ham Lake; several grandnieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Wold; three brothers, Alf, Bjarne and Harold; two half brothers, Ole Dosen and Terji Kjeldaas; two nephews, Robert and Ralph Jorstad; and niece, Alice Wold.
