Wallace G. Doty, 73, of the Kingsport Highway, died Sunday morning at his home.

He was a retired staff manager of Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co.

Mr. Doty had been a member of Central Baptist Church since 1968, where he had been active in the bus and elderly ministries of the church.

He was a World War II veteran.

His family knew him as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife: Martha Doty; a son and daughter-in-law: Gale and Kathy Doty, a grandson: Lynn Doty, and a stepdaughter and her husband: Debbie and Billy Ball, all of Greeneville; a stepson and his wife: Lyle and Kaye Busler of Morristown; five stepgrandchildren and their special spouses: Kaye and Jeff Lane, Ray and Rebecca Ball, Arel Ball, Evan Busler, and Diana Busler, all of Greeneville; a foster son and his wife: Dan and Sandy Hutton of Greenville, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law: I.L. and Opal Doty of Greeneville, and Bob and Loraine Doty of Fall Branch; his mother-in-law: Mamie Harmon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Judine Gosnell, who was also a special sitter, and her husband, Blane Gosnell, of Greeneville, Jimmy and Delcie Harmon of Bulls Gap, Julia Harmon, Rezetta and Harold Casteel, and Phyllis Willis, all of Greeneville, Ivan and Jane Harmon of Knoxville, Joe and Gayla Harmon of Greeneville, Arthur and Michelle Harmon of Sevierville, and Bob Ball of Greeneville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and another special sitter: June Lowe.

He was a son of the late Gilford and Viola Jones Doty and was preceded in death by five sisters: Marion Hatley, Inez McDonald, Mildred Yokely, Eula Arnold Brown, and an infant, Ella Mae Doty; three brothers: Ricko Doty, Harley Doty, and an infant, Roy Doty.

The family will receive friends from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held following visitation at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Chapel with the Rev. Bill Brouwer officiating.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the 11 a.m. graveside service at Oak Dale Cemetery in Greene County.
Active pallbearers will be Steve McDonald, Mike Doty, Ricky Doty, Dennis Cates, Bud Metz, Jimmy Harmon, Joe Bob Harmon, and Eddie Owens.

Honorary pallbearers will be W.E. Carmack and other Home Beneficial retirees and former workers, Charlie Morrison, Frank Tweed, Billy Owens, Hasferd Slemp, Wayne Carter, Guy Simpson, neighbors and friends, workers of Praying Pilgrim Class of Central Baptist Church and members of the church, classmates of 1944 at Baileyton High School, Dr. James Rodgers, Dr. Marlin Mathiesen, Dr. David Jones, and employees of Laughlin Home Health Care.
