Marie Edmonson passed away peacefully at age 94 in Spokane, at Deaconess Hospital. Born in Fargo, North Dakota, she was the oldest daughter in Johanna and Henry Skaufel's family of six children. The family moved to the Spokane area in 1926. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1938.

Marie married Guy Edmonson (deceased) in 1940 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. The couple made their home in Spokane and later in the Spokane Valley. Marie loved her family dearly and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and encouraging others. Marie accepted Christ as Savior at age seven and served the Lord faithfully in her church and community throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed children, teaching Sunday School for thirty years and was a Pioneer Girl leader for ten years. During her final years, Marie attended Orchard Christian Fellowship where she was a prayer warrior and known as "grandma" to everyone.

Marie is survived by son, Linn (Peggy) Edmonson; daughter, Nancy (Richard) Eimer; grandchildren, Deborah (Chris) Merkling, Sherry (Mark) Richman, James (Blair) Peters, Matthew Peters; great-grandchildren, Zachary Merkling, Anna Merkling, Kaetlyn Richman, Ashley Richman; sister, Katherine Starkey; sisters-in-law, Marion Skaufel, Joyce Skaufel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Orchard Christian Fellowship, 312 E Third Avenue, Spokane, Washington 99202, or to World Vision, PO Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063.

Our family would like to thank friends and staff at Harvard Park Retirement for Marie's wonderful final years.
