Visitation for Michael Barrett Jornov, 16, of Manteno, will be from 2 p.m Sunday until the 6 p.m. wake service at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno, IL. Rev. Ed Grotovsky will officiate.Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bates and Hudson, Redmond and Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson, NY. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hudson. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.Memorials may be made to the Manteno Rescue Squad and Paramedics, the Ronald McDonald House, Pedicatric ICU at Loyola Medical Center, or to Manteno High School Athletic Department. Michael died Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2005) at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood as a result of injuries he received in a one car accident in Manteno. He was born Dec. 14, 1988, in Dixon, IL, the son of Myron and Kathleen Barrett Jornov. Surviving besides his parents of Manteno, are one brother, Kyle Jornov of Bethlehem, Pa.; one sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Patrick Mullins of Bethlehem, Pa.; one niece, Natalie Mullins; maternal grandmother, Maree Kirwan of Claverack, NY; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His paternal grandparents, Theodore and Rosalee Jornov; and maternal grandfather, John A. Barrett, are deceased. Michael was a sophomore at Manteno High School. He was starting shortstop on the varsity baseball team and played football and basketball. He was the starting quarterback on junior varsity and backup quarterback on varsity. He loved fantasy football and baseball. He was an avid follower of college and professional sports. He was much loved by his fellow students and faculty at MHS and will be forever missed. The turf room at the high school baseball field is named the "Mike Jornov Turf Room" in his honor.
