Funeral services for Byron E. Coon, 79, were held at 2 p. m. Sunday, Nov 7, in the Phelps funeral home with burial in Milton cemetery. The Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph officiated assisted by Dr. Edwin Ben Shaw.

Mr. Coon died at 9:30 p. m. Friday in the Edgerton Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for 11 days.

The son of James and Jeanette Crandall Coon, he was born Nov. 12, 1869, in Utica, Wis., and was educated in the Albion academy and Milton college. He came to Milton at the age of 22 and was married Sept. 29, 1903, to Nellie Viola Coon in New Auburn, Minn.

They purchased a farm south of Milton, living there until their retirement from farming in 1927. Since that time, they have lived in a home they bought on Rogers street. He was active in work of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist church and its Sabbath school and the I.O.O.F.

Survivors are his wife; a son, B. Elwin Coon, Beloit, an adopted daughter, Mrs Retta Spaulding, Clintonville; three granddaughters, and two grandsons and a sister, Mrs. J. Fred Whitford, Milton.
