In the death of George S. McCormick, which occurred this morning at his home in Buena Vista, this county, one of our most wealthy, honored and capable citizens is removed. He was born in Adams county sixty-seven years ago, was educated at Ohio Wesleyan, and in 1847 built the second house in Buena Vista and opened up a store. Later he purchased a farm in this county, and after a few years' residence in this city returned to it, continuing his merchandising at Buena Vista, amassing considerable wealth. In 1847 he married Miss Nancy, daughter of Joseph Fleak of Cincinnati. Two children survive, Charles, who was in business with his father, and Floyd, Broadstreet's agent at Indianapolis.
