OBITUARY

David Duane Norgaard was born July 19, 1954 in Tyler, Minnesota to Wayne and Carol (Christensen) Norgaard. He was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church and graduated from Tyler Public School. Following graduation he attended V0-Tech School for two years. David was united in marriage to Renata TenCate on December 4, 1974 in Brookings, S.D. They settled in Tyler, where they farmed. David was involved in a variety of endeavors through the years, and his interests were varied. He loved farming and had a passion for everything he did. David established Southwest Wind Consulting, LLC, developing wind turbines in SW Minnesota. He served as county commissioner in Lincoln County for 8 years, and loved politics. David was a member of the Tyler Lions Club, where he participated in many of their annual plays. His love for acting began at the Tyler High School where he participated in several high school musical productions and high school speech. He was a member of the Jacees, Buffalo Ridge Chapter of ABATE, and Roaring Lions Motorcycle Club. He especially enjoyed riding motorcycles-Harleys-and attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally faithfully for 28 years. He had his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying planes. At the time of his death, he was in the process of buidling his own plane(a Challenger 2), with the help of friends. In his early years, he loved trapping. David loved to work, and played as hard as he worked. He loved his family and loved being with his friends as they were family too.
David Duane Norgaard passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 54 years and 6 months, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Renata of 34 years; daughter Jeanine; grandchildren Desmond Ankrum and Ashley Norgaard; grandmother Iva Christensen; sisters Deb (Wally) Paschke, Patty(Scott) Gilliland, and Sue (Lynn) Neilsen; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and three grandparents.
