John was born to James and Daisy Hill, in Muskegon, Michigan. He lived his earlier life in and around the Whitehall- Montague Mich. area. John married his high school sweetheart, the former Nora Cooper. Together they had six children. Brenda, John (Deceased 2018) , Joe (Deceased 12/19/2010), Janette , Dave & Matt (Deceased). John was an auto mechanic most of his life. The family had moved from Michigan to Indiana for the last few years of his life. John passed at the early age of 39 years after a short illness. In passing, besides his wife Nora and children, John left his Mother, Daisy Bell (Hill) Knollinger, (Deceased 9/16/2009), 3 brothers, Jim, Don & Bill (Deceased 2014) and 2 sisters, Barbara (Hill)Smith-Novak, (deceased) and Connie (Hill) Lang.
