Mildred J. Powers, 75, of Woodstock, died Friday, July 23, 1993 in her home.

She was born March 15, 1918 in Elgin, daughter of the late Albert H. and Grace M. (Shimp) Sommers.

She married Kenneth R. Powers Sr. on Oct. 26, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Woodstock.

Surviving are her husband, of Woodstock; two daughters, Judy (Don) Tibbits of Woodstock and Patricia (Merlyn) Diedrick of Crystal Lake; and two sons, Kenneth R. Powers Jr. of McHenry and Ronald (Eileen) Powers of Woodstock.

Also surviving are two brothers, Erwin (Elnora) Sommers of Williams Bay, Wis., and James Sommers of Powers Lake, Wis.; four sisters, Helen Powers of Woodstock, Carolyne (Glenn) Seyller of Plato Center, Doris Cominsky of Elgin and Mary (Charles) Singleton of Elgin; an uncle Alfred Sommers of Elgin; a dear friend, Sharon O'Leary of McHenry; and numberous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her partents.

Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic Church of Woodstock, the Rev. Al F. Harte officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.

A liturgical wake service will be at 7:30 in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Hospice of Northeast Illinois Inc. would be appreciated.
