Vivian Cooley, 91, of Laurel, died Friday, August 02, 2013, at Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Lake Park Hills. Rev. P.J. Weeks will officiate.
Mrs. Cooley was originally of the Strengthford community but lived in Laurel all of her married life. She was a seamstress and worked for Reliance for 22 years sewing on pockets. She went back to school and became a licensed practical nurse, working at South Central Regional Medical Center in the intensive care unit.
She was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church, singing in the choir and serving in many ways. She always put the Lord first in her life and lived a wonderful testimony to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Cooley in 1998.
She is survived by one son, Don Cooley and his wife Cathryn; one grandson, Dr. Christopher Cooley; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, John R. Anderson and one sister, Earle Cecile Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Hicks, Kelly Pugh, James Shearer, Chris Cooley, Justin Tyler and Chris Stewart.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Memory Chapel which is in charge of arrangements.
