The many friends of Mr. Lyman N. Kimball learn with deep regret that after a long illness he passed away last evening at his residence, 36 Alder street at the age of 70 years. Mr. Kimball has, for the past 50 years, been a resident of Portland, and has at different times been associated with the city government and held other important offices. He was for many years engaged in business here and built many of our large buildings. he was a descendent of Capt. Benjamin Kimball, the first settler of Bridgton. His father died when he was a boy of seven years of age. After receiving a country school education he learned his trade and established his business which he carried on quite successfully in the city for many years. He was a member of the Citizens Relief and a Charter member of the Maine Charitable Mechanics Association. He leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn his loss.
