Funeral services for Thomas M. Boyd Sr., 63, president of Boyd-Campbell Co., Inc., steamship agency, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal. The Rev. Robert Megee, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Boyd died at 4 p.m. yesterday at his home at 426 Carmel. He had lived here about 31 years and was a former lieutenant in the Army and was a captain in the Reserve. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and was the first president of the Propeller Club. Born in Terrell on May 14, 1895, Boyd attended Allen Military Academy at Bryan and Alabama Polytechnic Institute. He had worked as a freight broker, a forwarding agent, chief clerk of a steamship company, a stevedore foreman, a wharf clerk, a longshoreman and a chemist in this lifetime. He was married to the former Phyllis A. Bunker of Illinois. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas M. Boyd Jr. and James S. Boyd; a daughter, Miss Phyllis Mae Boyd, and five grandchildren, all of Corpus Christi. Pallbearers will be D. D. Barker, F. D. Hinman, Ernest Sustair, Darcey Vandever, T. A. Wilds and Ed Povlish. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the March of Dimes for arthritic research. Cage-Mills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
