He was born April 23, 1887, in the Town of Greenbush, a son of the late Edward and Adeline Herrling Bergin.
In 1914 he and Stilla Harck were married in Portland, Ore.
They farmed in the Greenbush area, then resided in Manitowoc for 20 years before moving to Compton, Calif. Mrs. Bergin died Sept. 28, 1966.
He returned to Plymouth in 1979.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George (Ruby) Kapellen of Plymouth; one son, William Jr., Town of Greenbush; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Louise Tauber of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, one son, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Lowell Ferguson, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, Plymouth, officiating. Burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery.
