"Veronica M. "Verne" Pielsticker, 84, died in Denver, CO on Oct. 10 after a long illness. A homemaker and mother of 10 children, she lived in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills for 43 years prior to moving to Denver in 1997 to be closer to her five daughters.

Born on Aug. 29, 1917 to German immigrants, Charles and Willemena [Wilhelmina Louise Hochgesang] Schwab, Verne spent her early years on Chicago's South Side. In 1942 she married the late Frank E. Pielsticker, co-founder of Arrow Gear Company and in 1954 they moved the family from Chicago to Hinsdale. Verne and Frank were active at St. Isaac Jogues Parish and supported many local charities. Prior to moving to Denver, Verne was involved in the local Junior Great Books program, as well as delivering meals to the homebound and driving them to their appointments. Verne enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was also an excellent cook. In her later years Verne got great satisfaction and support through her Bible studies meetings.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; as well as brothers, Chuck and Rev. Germaine Schwab, OFM; and her sister, Rita Quinn.

Visitation Sunday, Oct. 14, 3 to 8 p.m. at The Elliston Funeral Home, First and Grant Sts., Hinsdale. Friends will meet Monday, Oct. 15 at St. Isaac Jogues Church, Fourth and Clay Sts., Hinsdale, at 12 noon for Funeral Mass. Interment Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Franciscan Outreach, 1645 W. LeMoyne, Chicago, IL 60622. 630-323-0275."
