Mrs. Edwin F. Beckwith, 84, widow of Dr. E. F. Beckwith, at one time an Ionia physician, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in a Cleveland, O. hospital. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Mary B. Butchart, in Cleveland, and suffered a fractured hip in a fall several weeks ago.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was married in 1881 to Dr. Beckwoth, and the couple resided in Ionia for many years, living on East Main street and later in the home now occupied by Lloyd T. Smith, Union street. Dr. Beckwith died in 1928.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Butchart, Mrs. Frederick B. (Alice) Stiven of Urbana, Ill., and Mrs. Elba (Bertha) Johnson of Gambier, Ohio. There are 10 grandchildren. A son, Raymond, a professor at the University of Arizona, died many years ago.

Mrs. Beckwith was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Boynton funeral home. Rev. A. J. Westmaas will officiate, and burial will be in the family lot in Highland Park cemetery.
