Marvin James Ables, beloved father and Paw-Paw, passed from this life on the Lord's Day, February 12, 2012.
Born April 17, 1924 in Humphrey, AR to the late Robert Lee and Letha Ables, Marvin was the husband of the late Shirley Hill Ables.
He is survived by three sons: Danny Ables, and wife Lynda, of Memphis; Scott Ables of Little Rock; and Gary Ables of Little Rock. Paw-Paw was the grandfather of Ryan Ables of Memphis; Brennan Ables Maxim of Conway; Rachel Ables of Memphis; Nicholas Ables of Burbank, CA; and Anna Ables Morris of Greenbrier. He was the great-grandfather of nine children.
Marvin is also survived by brothers VO Ables of Rose City; Rowdy Ables of Center Ridge; Sidney Ables of Malvern; Aubrey Ables of Searcy; Bobby Ray Ables of Humphrey; and by sister Deloris Ables Tosh of Jackson, TN.
He was preceded in death by sister, Francis Ables Dunlop of Memphis.
Marvin, a member of the "Greatest Generation", served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as a Seaman on the USS Oakland.
Upon returning from the war he was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1984.
Graveside service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Frazier Cemetery, 1034 Highway 152, Humphrey, AR.
