Noted architect.
Son of Polish immigrants, John and Barbara Paderewski, he did not speak English until the age of six. He moved to Los Angeles in 1920 with his family and in 1935 moved to San Diego where he met and married Cecilia May (Boyer) on June 16, 1935. In 1936 he was awarded 3rd prize in the National Design Competition of a Residence for Structural Clay Products. He taught architecture and related subjects for the San Diego Unified School District and was considered a leader of the San Diego Polish-American community. He designed hundereds of architectural projects in the San Diego area, notably the exterior glass elevator at the El Cortez Hotel in San Diego and the geodesic dome gymnasium at Palomar College in San Marcos.
Second cousin of Polish composer-statesman, Ignace Jan Paderewski, he was knighted by the Polish government in the late 1990s as the oldest living relative of the composer who became the third Prime minister of Poland in 1919.
Later marriages were to Maxine (Tracy) Hood in 1969 and, after her death, to Genevieve, who survived him.
