Son of Lewis Apgar and Jane Sutphen (Apgar), married 2 Nov 1859, in Somerset, N.J. Their family later resided in Bruton, York County, Virginia, per 1870 Federal Census where Lewis worked as a farm laborer. It is unclear when the family returned back to New Jersey, and Jane Apgar is listed as a widow on the 1900 Federal Census, residing in Dunellen.


Theodore married to Emma L. Smalley. He was Co-Owner of Apgar Construction Company, along with his brother George. They were contractors for Whittier school and local Elks building, per obit for George.


Per 1910 Federal Census, worked as self-employed contractor. Age 42y., married nine years, resided in Dunellen. Their children: Clarence D. and Luella R.

Theodore Apgar, 66y, of 422 Lincoln Ave., died late last night (30th) at Muhlenberg Hospital. He was the son of Lewis and Jane Apgar and born Sept 23, 1867, in Millstone. He was a carpenter by occupation. He was a member of William G. Holton Council 55, Jr. OUAM, and of the Presbyterian church.

He leaves his son Clarence D., of Dunellen and a brother George I. Apgar, of Dunellen.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. from Runyon's Funeral Home, burial in Hillside, Plainfield.
