CAMP POINT, ILL., DEC. 20---Mrs. Mary A. Thomas, one of the pioneers of Adams county, died this morning at 7:15 o'clock from heart trouble after an illness of ten days. Her condition however, had not been serious and death was unexpected. Decedent was born in Clayton township, January 26, 1840, and she was almost 77 years of age. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Beckett and all members of her family are dead except two brothers, George Beckett of Golden and Joseph Beckett of near Camp Point. She was married to Eli R. Thomas in Quincy in 1862 and they went to housekeeping on a farm near Golden where they resided until his death in 1894 when she removed to this community. Mrs. Thomas is survived by three children, Mrs. Ida Cornelius who resides on the home farm. Walter Thomas of Mendon and Joseph L. Thomas of Quincy. She was the mother of six children, two whom died in infancy and one son, Curtis M. Thomas, died June 20 of this year in Los Angeles and was buried in the family lot in Hebron cemetery on June 27. there also are seven grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
