John Edmund Higgins was born in August of 1884 in St. John, NB to parents:
Nathan Augustus Higgins & Sarah Ann Kyle; both of St. John.
Nathan A Higgins & wife Sarah A Kyle moved their young family to Cambridge, Essex, Massachusetts where they had their remaining children.
In 1902 John Edmund Higgins married Helen A. Rogers of Cambridge, MA (d/o Martin N Rogers & Adeline "Addie" T. Daisey/Daisy.

all born in Somerville.
On April 13, 1907, John E. Higgins suffered a wound to his Corotid Artery, and died en route to the hospital in an ambulance. He died from this wound and hemmoraging. Underneath this Cause of Death on his death record it says "Homicidal"
John E. Higgins was murdered by a Mr. Robert Bruce Clark, during an argument over 'the Teamsters' Strike' that was occurring at the time; Mr. Clark murdered him on the sidewalk in front of 'McCabe's Bar-room" on 88-90 Cambridge street, Charlestown, MA with a Cotton hook. He struck him once in the face, and once on the left rear of his head, resulting in terrible wounds, the second being fatal.

Interestingly; the witness to the murder, Cornelius J. Callahan, would marry John's widow, 1 year, and 6 days, after he was murdered.
Helen and John's son Frederick was born earlier that year.
Helen would marry a 3rd time; she had 4 children with C. J. Callahan, and one with Jeremiah O'Leary.
