He was another old time Physician, born near Jersey Shore, when he was young he attended Rev Grier's school in Northumberland. He frequently walked home following the Indian path through White Deer and Nippenose valleys. He commenced reading medicine with his father and completed his studies with Dr Thomas Wood of Muncy.

At that time there were only 3 or 4 physicians in Lycoming county. Doctors were forced to travel on horseback with saddlebags eating and sleeping where night overtook them. Sometimes they were found asleep on their horses.
It was while pursuing his studies at Muncy that he married Miss Rachel Wood a niece of his preceptor. They were married Apr 24 1817. In 1837 he became an associate judge and sat upon the bench as his father before him.
While on professional duty he contracted a cold which terminated in his death.
