Former Official of Effingham Dies of Illness.
GUYTON George Foy Arden, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.
The Guyton native was retired from the Central of Georgia Railroad in 1963 and was owner of the Guyton Insurance Agency. He was a member of Guyton Christian Church, where he served as an elder and was a member of Guyton Lodge No., 428 F&AM. He had served as mayor pro-tem of the city of Guyton and was a former member of the Effingham County Board of Education. He was also a member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.
Surviving are two brothers: Milton Arden, Sr., of Guyton and Hamilton G. Arden of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Friday at Guyton Christian Church with burial in the Guyton Cemetery.
Leslie Thompson Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge.
