Baylis Earl Butler a retired farmer passed away at a local hospital on Friday. Baylis was a native of Greenville County and was the son of the late Baylis A. and Fannie Baldwin Butler. He was the last member of his immediate family. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and former deacon of the church and former trustee of Oak Grove School.
Among his survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Hamby Butler; one son, Dalmer W. Butler from Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. Wilton Jones from Simpsonville, Mrs. Calvin Farmer from Greenville and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Ella Butler Knight who died in 1934, Mrs. Myra Butler Smith who died in 1954; two brothers, William Edward Butler who died in 1941 and Homer William Butler who died in 1932.
Services will be conducted at Rocky Creek Baptist Church today at 3:30 p.m. with Dr. J.H. Simpson and Rev. William Palmer officiating followed by internment in church cemetery.
