Body Of Ex-County Resident Found In Fond du Lac Woods

John H. Phipps. 52, of 343 3rd St., Fond du Lac, a former resident of Sheboygan County, was found Saturday afternoon by two 15-year-old boys, hanging from a tree in a wooded area southeast of Fond du Lac in the Town of Empire.
His death was termed a suicide by Fond du Lac County authorities.
Thomas R. Bogenhagen and Richard J. Guell, both of Fond du Lac, found the body near de Neveu Creek just off Rienzi Road. They notified the sheriff's department immediately.
Fond du Lac County Coroner Frank H. Decker set the time of death as late Thursday night or Friday morning. Mr. Phipps had been seen in Fond du Lac early Thursday evening.

He was born on June 30, 1911, in Town of Mitchell, a son of Walter and the late Mrs. Phipps. He attended Rathbun District School and Plymouth High School, and on June 20, 1935, was married to the former Norma Kundo.
He had been employed at Baker Cheese Co., in Town of Forrest (Fond du Lac
Survivors are one son, John, of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters. Mrs. Howard (Mollie) Bandy of West Allis, and Mrs. Roger (Linda) Balzan ot Plymouth; one granddaughter; two brothers, Douglas Phipps of Plymouth and Thomas Phipps of Madison; two sisters, Mrs. George Johnson of Rathbun, and Mrs. Ernest Conger of Oak-field; his stepmother, Mrs. Alma Phipps of Greenbush; two stepbrothers, Elmer Phipps of Branch, and Walter Phipps of Greenbush; and one stepsister, Mrs. Lila Schuelte of Greenbush. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth. The Rev. Robert Bernhardt, associate pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery.
