L. C. Blair, age 84 of Austin, Texas, formerly of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at North Austin Medical Center. Born Wednesday, March 24, 1926 in Pontiac, Illinois, he was the son of Lermond Blair & Connie Parsons Blair. He married June Dorsine Hamilton September 11, 1947. She preceded him in death September 5, 2009. Also preceded in death are his parents, two brothers, Beauford & Robert Blair; one sister, Berniece Adylett; & one granddaughter, Elaine Dorsine Blair. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Higginsville, also served on the Higginsville City Council and was a member of the Higginsville Oddfellows Lodge. He served in WWII & Korean War in the U.S. Navy, ranking EMP2(T). He built a number of homes in the Higginsville area and he worked for Illinois Central Railroad. He & his wife, June owned and operated Blair's Appliance, later becoming Radio Shack. He lived most of his life in Higginsville, moving to Austin in 1985. Surviving are a son, J. Hamilton (Sharon) Blair of Austin , Texas; daughter, Marsha (Terry) Madole of Higginsville, Missouri; brother, John Blair of Camdenton, Missouri; sister, Beatrice Umphenour of Penngrove, California; three grand children, Jeff (Liz) Bates, David (Ozeda) Blair, Susan (Chris) Ayers; & 8 great grandchildren. An Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Higginsville City Cemetery.
