Francisca Arellanes y Domínguez was born at Santa Bárbara, Alta California, México, where she was baptized in the Presidio Chapel on October 4, 1845, when she was just 4 days old (BP Baptism 01695). She was the daughter of Geronimo José Francisco Arellanes y Rodríguez (BP Baptism 00413) and his second wife, Bárbara Domínguez y Valenzuela (BP Baptism 00557). Francisca's parents were married at the Santa Barbara Presidio Chapel in January 1839 (BP Marriage 00221). Francisca became a U.S. citizen with the transfer of California's sovereignty in 1848. She married David C. Montgomery in 1887.
