"Lucille B Firth, 88, of 136 Mechanic St, Spartansburg, died on Saturday, March 13, 2004, in the Corry Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct 10, 1915, in Spartansburg, the daughter of the late Wave and Clara Himebaugh Blakeslee. She was raised and educated in Spartansburg where she graduated from Spartansburg High School. She then attended Edinboro University and received her teaching certificate. She first started teaching at Britton Run School and later she was the fourth grade teacher at Spartansburg Elementary School. She retired in the early 1970s after teaching the fourth grade for approximately 35 years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Firth Jr, whom she married in Jamestown, NY, on Aug 3, 1946. She is survived by a son, Troy Firth and his wife Lynn, of Spartansburg; [a] brother, Cameron Blakeslee, of Spartansburg, and his daughter, Carol Wolfe. She is also survived by a granddaughter...and by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Valley View Mennonite Church, State Highway 77, Spartansburg...A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the church with Pastor Rob Esh officiating. Burial will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg."
