This is part of the obit that my siblings and I wrote with the help of our S.O.'s. Catherine "Kay" Healy, loving wife of James G. Healy, peacefully embarked on her farewell cruise to heaven on February 9, 2012. She began her career as a registered nurse on Cape Cod where the plucky nurse met the dashing soldier who was going off to serve his country. Jim returned from overseas in 1946 and they married June 14, 1947. In the 60s, Kay started her second career as a manager for Welcome Wagon and later returned to nursing at Hill Haven Nursing Home. Kay was a long-time bridge player and later took up golf. She was famous for the annual Christmas Tree Trim party at their home in DeWitt as well as too many impromptu parties to remember. Kay loved to go on cruises with her husband,Jim. After 64 years of marriage, they were still deeply devoted to each other. Kay counted her marriage, family and many dear friends among her special blessings. Not one to care about material things, Kay would prefer collecting memories and sharing time with those she loved. She will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who fondly remember her Christmas cookies and orange bread. Catherine Cusick Fairclough was her birthmother.
