Our community was made very sad Tuesday, Feburary 27, when word was received that Mrs. Tom Pou McDowell (Mrs. Nannie to us) had passed away at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Clewis in Memphis. She had been in Memphis since Feburary 16, where she was under doctor's care and Saturday, Feburary 24, she seemed much improved in health. But Monday a change for the worse occured and she passed away Tuesday.
She was born Feburary 26, 1892, the only child of the late Mr. & Mrs. Silas Anderson. She in survived by her husband and 10 children, 6 daughters; Nettie, Dorris, Peggy, Waive, Juanita and Mildred at home, 4 sons; Flynn of Memphis, Virgil who is fur lough from hospital in New Orleans, Tom Pou Jr. and Brooks at home, 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. For to know her was to love her.
She was a Methodist, funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.T. Shelton, Pastor of Tocowa Baptist Church at Shiloh Church Thursday, March 01, after which she was tenderly laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery under a mound of beautiful flowers.
