Mr. Burtness was born Dec. 5, 1885, on a farm near Amherst, Minn., the son of Christen and Christi Burtness. He spent several years in New Mexico where he was a photographer. Previous to retirement, he was employed by the Jay Mfg. Co., Minneapolis.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Clara Onstine, Harmony, Minn.; one brother, Allen C. Burtness, Seattle, Wash.; five nieces and seven nephews. Mr. Burtness never married. Two brothers, Helge and Peter, and two sisters, Mrs. Ole Lee and Mrs. Earl Russell, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Wed. Sept. 18, at 11:00 o'clock at the Elstad Cemetery, rural Lanesboro, with the Rev. R. K. Livdahl, pastor of the Elstad church, officiating.
