Dick was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Nokomis, Ill., to Grover and Zora (Alphine) Land, where he grew up and farmed with his family. He married Helen Snow on Dec. 26, 1941, and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
In January 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving through the duration of World War II. Following the war, he worked as a regional truck driver in the Peoria area.
In retirement he was known as the neighborhood fix-it man.
As a volunteer, he helped build Fondulac United Church of Christ in East Peoria, where he was a longtime member.
His wife, Helen; and their children, daughter, Marilyn (Merrill) Johnson; sons, Dennis (Aleta) Land and Brian (Becky) Land; his eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren will miss him terribly and always remember him with love.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
