Linda, born Dec. 4, 1952, passed away pain-free in her sleep Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at 12 a.m. after a two-year battle with throat cancer.

A graduate of Hueneme High School, Linda resided in Oxnard until 1980 when she moved to Tulare County, Calif., to develop a stronger relationship with her father's family. Though always calling Ventura County home, she resided in and around Visalia, Calif., for over two decades. After finishing a Certificate of Business program at the College of the Seqoias in Visalia, Calif., she worked in the human resources department at the County of Tulare Government offices for over 11 years. She loved this job because she was able to help people on a daily basis attain their professional goals. In her free time, in addition to the work she did for her local church, she devoted a lot of her time volunteering at various adult literacy programs at libraries throughout Tulare County.

Being an avid reader, she felt everyone should experience the impact of the written word. She was an accomplished seamstress and though never sewing for pay, she enjoyed making garments for friends and family. Linda recently relocated to Ventura where she lived with her son and his wife. The relocation was hard for her at first but for the best as she was able to have the proper care she needed to ease her suffering and improve her quality of life.

She is survived by her son, Jason Burchell and his wife Katie; elder sibling, Kathy Davies; nephew, Sean Davies; nieces, Shannon Hall and Courtney Parkins; mother, Lesa Lopez; and stepfather, Louis H. Lopez.

Graveside services will be held at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012, at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20. Arrangments have been entrusted to Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010, 805-482-1166.
