Edna Ruth Benso, the daughter of Marion and Anna (Meiers) Stout, was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Russell Co., KS. Her death occurred May 16, 1992, at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, after a few weeks of failing health. Her age was 76 years, 6 months, and 25 days.

Edna lived all her life in the Russell Co. community, received her basic education in the local schools, graduating from Russell High School with the Class of 1933. On Oct. 25, 1936, she married Frank "Bud" Benso at Russell.

Most of her life she worked at the Russell City Library, beginning her work there in 1956, working until her health required hospitalization just the past several weeks. Her assocation with the library was not only one of employment but was one of love for her work, and her devotion to the people who used the library, she truly enjoyed and loved her work.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Republican Women and VFW Aux., all of Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank "Bud" Benso who died Dec. 22, 1965; a brother Bill and three sisters: Ethel Fink, Nellie Stout, and an infant sister. Survivors include two sisters, Cora Miller of Russell and Fannie Ayers of Victoria; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
