Hutchinson - Bernadine Corbin, Hutchinson, formerly a longtime Russell resident, died Nov. 25, 2003, at the Hutchinson Hospital, at the age of 83. The daughter of Albert and Viola (Schletzbaum) Knackstedt, she was born March 5, 1920, at McPherson. She grew up in the McPherson and Windom areas, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1939. On Feb. 23, 1941, she married Roy Lee Corbin at McPherson. After their marriage, they resided in Hutchinson, before moving back (?) to the Russell area in 1943. She was a longtime Russell resident before moving back to Hutchinson in Dec. 2000. She worked for J.C. Penney Co., Russell Lumber Co., the Russell airport, and for Schwallers Lumber Co., all of Russell. She also was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were: husband, parents, her husband's two step-daughters and a sister. Survivors include: a daughter, Roya D. Gardner, and husband, Gene, Hutchinson; a brother, Boyd Knackstedt, and wife June, of Russell; a sister, Joyce Lord, Blue Rapids; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The funeral was Dec. 1, 2003, at the Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, Russell, with Rev. Earl Haggard officiating. Interment was conducted at the Russell City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Russell Regional Hospital Building Fund, and may be sent in care of the Pohlman-Heise Mortuary, Russell, who is in charge of the arrangements.
