Howard Dycus was the son of David Andrew Winn Dycus and Mary Frances Mosher Dycus. He had five siblings, with whom he was very close: Franklin Andrew (died at age 7); Minnie Ruth; James Herbert; Mildred Florence;and Emma Fay Dycus.
As a young man, Howard grew up in Dyersburg, TN. It was here that Howard met the best friend of his younger sister Ruth; Claudine Grant. Howard attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Later, he would become the Chief Engineer for the Knoxville Utility Board "KUB".
On March 15, 1935, Howard and Claudine were married. They settled in Knoxville, TN and had three children, a daughter and twin sons.
On January 31, 1995, just shy of his 83rd birthday and his 60th wedding anniversary, Howard passed away.
Howard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and well respected by his coworkers and friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and watching baseball, and was an accomplished genealogist. He had a quick sense of humor and was generous with his friends and family. He is remembered with much love by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
