Laurie Ann Powell Parkinson
Her loss was devastating for so many that loved her, her young husband, her devoted mother, and two brothers one whom was a close companion friend confidante, that still carries her in his heart and thoughts daily, Aunts who adored her, and cousins who looked up to her. She was truly beautiful, and now lies in peace with her mother at her side her father at her head a brother close by and a loving Aunt at her other side. Surrounded in afterlife as in life with Love.
At her funeral services in Seal Beach, CA there was over 500 people with standing room only. The service was full of laughter, tears, memories, moments and lots and lots of love. People of all ages, from a 9 year old young lady to a respected member of her church she attended, who was 89 years old spoke about Laurie's greatness. The greatness that will be a HUGE void on earth.
Laurie's passion was equality for all. Love for all. Respect for all. In The late 1980's when during the AIDS epidemic, Laurie made sure the young woman that she lead at church knew about service for all people. She took the young woman many times to make and deliver "Meals on Wheels" to home-bound AIDS patients. Laurie strong passion for Service will long live on.
Laurie was a graduate of UCLA in Human Resources. She loved her last position at Toyota of America in Orange County, CA.
On her free time from work and church work she loved being with family and friends. The Pacific Beach was a place that so much fun and laughter that took place with family. Her younger brother, Quentin would spend hours and hours with Laurie just "hanging" at the beech with Laurie while she was in the middle of Chemo.
