Bertha Hudson

DORENA — The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Cottage Grove Church of the Nazarene for Bertha Louise Hudson of Dorena, who died Feb. 15 of vascular dementia. She was 81. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.

She was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Redlands, Calif., to Charles and Opal Bishop Bangle. She married Richard J. Hudson on Dec. 18, 1947, in Pasadena, Calif. He died in Dec. 20, 1995.

She graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Oregon in 1971 and a master's degree in education from the University of Oregon in 1975. She taught at Harrison School from 1970 to 1974 and from 1977 to 1997 and at Bohemia School from 1974 to 1977. Her focus was special education.

Survivors include four sons, Richard of Poulsbo, Wash., David of Eugene, Rodney of San Antono, Texas, and Charles of Dorena; two brothers, Charles "Ed" Bangle and Lester Bangle, both of Cottage Grove; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Marguerite Hudson, in 1949.

Burial will be at in Brumbaugh Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
