Lois McMackin Freeman, 96, of Brentwood, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services for Mrs. Freeman were held Saturday, October 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Clark Freeman officiated the services.
Mrs. Freeman was born on January 28, 1911, to the late William (Bud) and Mattie Haley McMackin of Obion County. She was a faithful member of the Martin Church of Christ following her baptism in 1930. She retired from the University of Tennessee at Martin library in 1976 and had also worked for the City of Martin library. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Troy High School and attended the University of Tennessee Junior College in Martin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freeman was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joe C. Freeman.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by a son, Clark B. Freeman (deceased wife, Mary Nell) of Knoxville; two daughters, Connie Pat Mauney (Mac) of Brentwood, and Ann Gran (Charles) of Plano, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
