Emerson D. Walker, 97, born on October 18, 1914 in Fairmont, New York the son of the late Deforest B. and Mamie A. (Warren) Walker. Was promoted to heaven to be forever with the LORD of his life for 65 years and joined the love of his life for 71 years, on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 9:45 AM. He attended Fairmont School and Solvie Intermediate School. He married Eleanor C. Haviland on July 31, 1937 at the Camillus Baptist Church with Rev. Perrigo officiating. Mr. Walker is survived by his two sons, Emerson C. (Charlotte) Walker of Hobe Sound, Florida and Mark S. (Trisha) Walker of West Winfield, NY; daughter, Kathleen "Gail" Vanderpool of Lancaster, Ohio; brother, Edward R. Walker of San Diego, California; sister, Thelma Cox ; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren and a step granddaughter. Emerson is predeceased by two sons, Clayton E. and Dwight L. Walker; a daughter, Janice M. Bonakey; and brothers, Kenneth, Stewart and Leon Walker; and sister, Arlene Cuyle. Mr. Walker was a precision grinder for Remington Road in Syracuse for six years then for Holland Furnace Company for 32 years where he was manager. Mr. Walker was the owner and operator of "Emerson Heating Company" in Watertown and Russell, New York for 16 years, while also driving school bus for Knox Memorial Central School for 15 years. Emerson's passion was living for the Lord. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had several horseshoe trophies while a member of the Canton Horse Shoe Club, Canton, New York. His commitment to the Lord changed his life in 1947 when he started taking his young family to church. He was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Syracuse and Russell, New York and most recently of the Bremen Holiness Church in Bremen, Ohio. Those who knew Emerson in any measure met a man who lived to please God above all else. He had a very strong spirit and it carried thru in all his life. Calling hours are from 1 til 2 PM Thursday, March 1st at the Bremen Holiness Church, 1300 Mt. Zwingli Road, Bremen, Ohio 43107 with the service immediately following with Rev. Roger Hatfield officiating. Burial will be Saturday, March 3rd at 9:30 AM in Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare, New York with Rev. Paul Case Sr. officiating.
